Privacy Policy
Bytelantic, Inc. builds and runs the products described on this website. This policy explains what happens to your information when you visit bytelantic.com and when you use those products. The short version is that our products are built so we never receive your data in the first place.
This website
bytelantic.com is a static website. It does not use cookies, it does not use local storage to track you, and it contains no analytics software, advertising pixels, embedded social widgets, or other third-party tracking technology. Fonts, images, and scripts are all served from our own domain, so loading a page here does not tell any other company that you visited.
We do not run contact forms, so there is nothing on this site that collects your name, your email address or any other personal detail.
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc. Like any web host, GitHub processes the standard technical information needed to deliver a page to your browser, which includes your IP address. We do not have access to those logs and we make no use of them. GitHub describes its own handling of that information in the GitHub Privacy Statement.
When you contact us
If you email [email protected] or call the number on ourcontact page, we receive whatever you choose to tell us. We use it only to reply and to keep a record of the conversation. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not share your message outside the company unless the law requires it. Email reaches us through our email provider, which stores messages to deliver them.
Singlenote
Singlenote is our note-taking app for iOS and Android. It is built on a deliberate constraint: you get exactly one note.
- No accounts and no servers. You do not sign up, you do not log in, and you never give us an email address. Bytelantic operates no server that Singlenote talks to.
- Your note stays on your device. The content of your note is stored locally by the app. It is not transmitted to Bytelantic, and we have no technical means to read it.
- No analytics and no advertising. The app contains no analytics software, no advertising software and no third-party software development kits that collect information about you. We do not collect crash reports that identify you.
- Nothing to sell. Because we collect no personal data through Singlenote, there is no personal data for us to sell, share or transfer. We have never sold personal data and we do not intend to.
If you enable your device's own backup or sync features, your operating system may include app data in a backup that you control, governed by Apple's or Google's terms rather than ours. That is a setting on your device. It is not something Bytelantic operates, requests or can see.
Saferlayer
Saferlayer adds tamper-resistant watermarks to documents to make identity theft harder. It runs entirely inside your web browser. The documents you watermark are processed on your own computer and are never uploaded to a server. We do not receive your documents, we do not store them, and we cannot see them. Saferlayer lives atsaferlayer.com and has its own notices where they differ from this policy.
Children
Our products are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Since we do not collect personal information at all, this is a statement about how the products are designed rather than a promise about deletion.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information a company holds about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. Because we maintain no user accounts and no user profiles, in nearly every case the answer is that we hold nothing beyond an email you may have sent us. If you would like an email exchange deleted, write to [email protected] and we will take care of it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how any of our products handle information, we will update this page and change the effective date above before the change takes effect. Material changes to a product's data practices will also be described in that product's release notes.
